Christ is resting between the Mother of God and the Archangel Michael. Both are watching over Him.

In his right hand he holds the staff of a messenger, and in his left, he carries a transparent orb, surmounted by a cross. The letters inside the globe make up the initials in Greek for “Christ the Righteous Judge.”  From the School of Constantantinople, 14th century
